Capt. Larry Weekley and Capt. Elson Myers operate
Canyon Blues Sportfishing Charters out of
Oregon Inlet, leaving from Broad Creek Marina in Wanchese from late August through early
July. Our spring season starts when the first
yellowfin tuna show up, which is generally in
mid-April. They are followed by the big
dolphin (mahi). The marlin action usually
starts in mid-June. Our Gulf Stream waters typically
offer fabulous fishing opportunities during the late
spring and early summer months.
As the summer season begins
to gradually wind down in mid-September the white marlin action gets
into full swing. Double digit
shots are not uncommon this time of year, with big blue marlin and yellowfin tuna
mixed
in. Then as the water begins to cool the yellowfin tuna and bigeye tuna fishing take
center stage again. For the past several
seasons tuna fishing has remained excellent
through late December and early January.
