Canyon Blues Sportfishing Charters offers full service offshore fishing charters out of Oregon Inlet on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, leaving from Broad Creek Marina in Wanchese from late August through early July. Then we follow the fish north to Ocean City, Maryland and fish there until late August. 

Our boat is a top-of-the-line beautiful 51 ft. Ricky Scarborough that has been fully equipped for Gulf Stream offshore fishing. We are outfitted with state-of-the-art electronics and safety gear. You will fish in luxury while taking advantage of our large roomy salon, air conditioned for your comfort on the trip out and back from the fishing grounds. Canyon Blues is equipped with all new custom fishing rods and reels along with the most up to date fishing tackle. 

Canyon Blues offers a unique advantage over other Oregon Inlet charters by being run by two USCG licensed captains, Captain Larry Weekley and Captain Elson Myers. Together they have over forty years of experience fishing the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy a full day offshore on Canyon Blues fishing for yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, bigeye tuna, blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, wahoo, dolphin (mahi) and several species of shark. In addition to offshore fishing, we offer inshore full and half day trips. Canyon Blues also offers custom overnight trips which provide an awesome opportunity to catch the ever elusive and sought after swordfish.

Oregon Inlet Situation

No doubt most people have already heard that there is a serious evolving situation over the future of Oregon Inlet. We want to make our customers aware that recently the state of North Carolina pledged money to be used in combination with federal funds that would keep the inlet dredged to a minimum depth of 14 feet in order to accommodate the larger commercial fisheries vessels that currently use Oregon Inlet. Since most charter fishing and recreational vessels require much smaller depths, we are confident that the state and federal government will not allow the inlet to close which some estimates say would cost the state nearly $1 billion in lost fishing industry revenues and jobs alone.

The stories that you may have heard about the inlet are worth paying attention to because Outer Banks citizens are presently in a battle to help make our federal and local politicians understand the critical importance of keeping their previous commitments to our local Outer Banks businesses. If politicians drop the ball now through their inactivity or apathy it could only worsen an already failing economy. We just can't allow our local and national economies to become the victims of these political games. Playing chicken with our economy will only result in further irreparable damage to an already fragile area.   

We would like to take just a moment to assure our customers that we would not ever attempt unsafe navigation of the inlet if it were to ever become too shallow for our safe navigation. Our customer's safety is our number one concern!
